A few hydraulic hoses had to be run from a large, latest generation jack up in the North Sea down to a platform and it was not practical to utilise the connecting personnel gangway due to operational limits. A support platform and chain catenary with a custom hose clamp system was developed to ensure hose integrity in severe weather conditions. Due to the variability in deflection, harmonics and vibration from VIV, a tensioning adjustment winch was also incorporated.
